Want A Flourishing Yard Sale? Here Is The Way!

Are your clothes bursting out of your wardrobe? Have you bought more pans or containers over the past few years? Well, we are not going to get into what’s happening in your garage sale. The key point is- You’ve gathered too much stuff and the yard sale might be the perfect solution to throw off the unwanted one.
Here are the four key points to run a successful yard sale:
  • Choose the right time: Weekends, especially Fridays and Saturdays, are usually the best time to hold a yard sale. However, if you find large number of homes for sale in your neighborhood, Sunday can also work well. Choose a day when there is warm atmosphere, since people likely avoid visiting a yard sale when it’s too freezing or scorching. Start the sale as early as possible because serious buyers tend to shop at that time only.

  • Get the Word Out: Yard Sale advertising play a vital role in its success. Apart from placing fliers at local coffee shops and other popular spots, also announce the sale on Craigslist. It allows you to post your yard sale ads for free. In the ads, mention the types of items you offer and proper information of the location. Always be enthusiastic and accurate with your sales. Nobody wants an “old wood stove” but they’ll travel fifty miles away to buy a “Franklin Wood Stove”.

  • Ask Neighbours and Friends to Join the Sale: You can also invite your neighbors and friends to participate with you. This way you can attract even more customers and also work together to make sale fun and bustling. Bear in mind, no one would like to visit the sale of a sad seller. Also, offer a freebie like coffee or lemonade to lure buyers.

  • Price your products smartly: Price your items at about 75% of the original price on nice furniture or fine rare things like collectibles or antiques. Since, buyers will obviously haggle over the price. Besides, print out what items are going for and attach it to each of item. Lastly, be sure to have lot of change on hand if you don’t want your customers to walk away just because you can’t make change for their $15 bill.
